I really love Yeasayer. There is something so energetic about their music and I really never tire of them. Lately, I have been listening to both their albums, Odd Blood and All Hour Symbols and consequently reading what other people have had to say about them. The reviews tend to all be along the line of "if you love one, then you'll hate the other", but I love them both in different ways. One reviewer claimed that it separated Yeasayer fans into the "hippies and the hipsters" (Odd blood being hipster and All Hour Symbols being hippie) but why can't you be both?  So many people also complained about two of my favourite tracks on Odd Blood "Mondegreen" and "Rome" (which I both find similar to The Cure, another of my favourite bands) saying they were a load of tripe and that Yeasayer had grossly failed. Some people assume that once they dislike a track or if a track has strayed from bands older material that it is ultimately a fail. Anyway, listen for yourself and see what you think:

The whole situation in Japan has been getting me down of late. The more I hear about radioactivity, death toll, freezing weather, lack of food, the more I feel.
Just when you think we have been suffering from enough disasters, another one strikes. I don't know why it has affected me so greatly. Is it because it has been televised more than other disasters? Surely, we have heard of so many people dying in so many horrendous ways, that you would think that by now, we would be desensitized towards it, however, quite the opposite, so much support has been shown by everyone.
In truth, it hasn't just made me feel low and depressed, but excited too? I mean, how often do you get everyone working together like this? I feel like I'm putting on a real community spirit voice, which I would normally think to be a bit naff, but really, this is exciting.

Japan is such a wonderful place that it seems so unfair that it happened. A year ago we traveled to Japan, on our way from Australia to Ireland for 2 weeks, and it was one the most memorable experiences in my whole life. The culture is so strange, yet wonderful. I mean, where else do you by shirts and ties in corner shops called Family Mart? I'm scared that everything will have changed, that the calm composed nature of Japan will have disappeared.

Achh! I'm in the crocheting fiend mood where I feel like crocheting everything humanely possible! Granny squares just won't do anymore, I need a more interesting project...
I've been so suprised over the past week as I've found more and more people in my school who can crochet or who would love to learn. I gave my first lesson (in class :s) and it proved to be a lot harder than I had imagined. I mean, how do you you teach a left hander to hold her yarn when you've grown so accustomed to holding yours in your right? It was pretty challenging. But I sense a crochet revival!
here are a few ace crochet projects that I'm busting to get started on:
blanket
jute motif
laptop sleeve
ric-rac

Not only does Mia Farrow have the same name as me, but she is also an ace actor! Rosemary's baby has to be one of the best horror films (or as the irish would say "filems") I've seen in a long time. It's one of those movie's that you question the genre it has been placed in....horror? It definitely wasn't the kind of horror I expected or that I've grown accustom to, but the kind that got under my skin in a really creepy way. I never found myself cowering under the blankets but it left me with this long lasting sensation of...creepiness.

I'm backkk! Not that I previously mentioned that I was gone, but my absence from the blog wasn't just procrastination and laziness...I hope.
Anyhow I had an ace time in Florence for about 3 weeks, I'd would love to live there one-day, however I think I would miss asian food, the occasional hamburger, and (not being stereotypical or blatantly judgemental ) nice people...perhaps that was a little too far :D No, there are some awesome people in Italy, , however there seem to be quite a few people who have permanent stink eyes, especially when you make an attempt at speaking the language, it's quite awful and discouraging.
I will post some photos a little later, when I can find the chord.
